(neuro)MONINAISUUS (April 13–May 15, 2026) presents art by artists belonging to neurominorities. This group exhibition, held at Valveen Paljetti and pop-up gallery Kamari (previously Oulu Film Centre’s library) at Valve, brings forward the experiences of being part of a neurodivergent minority through the works of eight artists.

Inkeri Routakorpi

Inkeri Routakorpi is an autistic contemporary artist and AuDHD activist. Through music, photographic performance, and literary art, she seeks to highlight topics related to the autism spectrum and ADHD, such as her inner world, mental health, and societal injustices. Through her creative expression, she also aims to improve her well-being and sense of inclusion in society, as making art increases her confidence, self-awareness, and gives meaning to her life. When it’s difficult to fit into the world, there is always a place in one’s own art.

hattarahelvetti

hattarahelvetti is an illustrator and visual arts professional whose work explores life as part of a neurominority, living with OCD, and overcoming fears. Important themes for hattarahelvetti include the rights of LGBTQIA+ communities and neurominorities. hattarahelvetti’s realistic pieces are usually created digitally through drawing. Floral motifs frequently recur in their delicate works, alongside people.

Kain Luosujärvi

Kain Luosujärvi (b. 1995) is a photographer and artist originally from Rovaniemi. Kain photographs with both digital and film and uses a variety of found materials in their art. In collage art Kain combines playfully different materials, creating multidimensional surfaces and details. Important themes in Kain’s art are queer culture, northern nature and storytelling elements.

Liina Holmes

Liina Holmes is a multidisciplinary artist from Oulu, who works with painting art, video art, graphic design and audiovisuality. Liina’s work is focused on melancholic, darker themes and aesthetic contrasts, moving between different forms of expression. Liina’s work has been influenced by a multitude of cultural and geographical environments. The VJ/DJ-gigs and immersive audiovisual event productions have deepened Liina’s understanding of audiovisual expression and co-operation.

Helviina Risto

Helviina Risto (b. 1985) is a jewelry artisan and artist of wide interests from Oulu. Helviina’s studio is located in Pikisaari, Oulu at Kulttuuribingo Vintti and is part of Oulu community college art school’s group Upian Konstikkaat. Orjo Pättiniemi

Orjo Pättiniemi (b. 1986) has produced culture events for many years and is a silversmith and artist but also an expert by experience at Autism Finland. Orjo has been drawing and painting since childhood and for the last 8 years he has also done silversmithing as a hobby. Socially active Orjo holds several board seats in NGOs and has previously been a member of Helsinki City disability council. In art Orjo has taken influences from icon and medieval art. Powerful colours and lines are typical for Orjo’s work. Orjo artistic endeavours are typified by the need to develop beautiful shapes and strong themes. His deep love of Sci-Fi and fantasy and vintage and antiques can also be seen in his pieces of art.

Anna-Kaisa Kettunen

Anna-Kaisa Kettunen is a multitalent in culture, mainly working as an event producer and performer. Painting has been a dear and active hobby of Kettunen ever since childhood, and now the works can be seen for the first time as part of the exhibition. Kettunen prefers using acrylic paints - either with brush or hands.

Katri Alanko

Katri Alanko is an installation artist who is active in the Cultish, Chrysalix, and Portaali collectives. Alanko’s works have been shown at numerous festivals in Oulu, such as Frozen People, IIIK!, Lumo, and the Oulu Music Video Festival. The latest exhibition by the Cultish collective, Earthly Delights, is currently on display at Neliö-Galleria. Alanko’s installations make use of a wide range of materials and often consist of modified found objects. Her works are unified by themes of death worship, religious symbolism, and decaying corporeality.
